Road sources

Previous pageBack to chapterNext page

Road objects are of linear type. Set the acoustic parameters of a road source is used to deploy the axis into traffics.

A road source has:

A geometry.

Its acoustic parameters.

Simple geometry

A simple road is composed with only its axis. The platform is calculated when the simulation starts. The axis of the road contains all geometric and acoustic data of a source are stored on its axis. The axis is the part of the road that we import and export.

Advanced geometry

A road source is composed of a platform, an axis and traffics. Input acoustic parameters on the axis of the road creates its traffics.

Axis: all geometric and acoustic data of a source are stored on its axis. The axis is the part of the road that we import and export.

Platform is the ground under the road. Platform has a reflective material (type G).

Traffics correspond to the number of lanes of the road. They are the acoustic sources in simulations. By default, traffics are draped on the DTM. The height of the source is automatically calculated at the beginning of each simulation and depends on the method of emission.

Modify the mode

Xhen editing a road, the mode can be changed (read this chapter). But several roads can be changed in same time by using the contextual menu in the Graphic interface.

To do this:

Select one or several roads.

Right-click/Road mode.

Choose the mode: Simple geometry or Advanced geometry.

The direction of the traffic circulation is useful to calculate the acoustic power of the lane in the event the road is sloping. Only lanes that are climbing are affected by the slope.
