Create a ground from a TIN

Previous pageBack to chapterNext page

The source data may be a TIN that has already been generated by other software. MithraSIG cannot directly take this TIN into account. It must be transformed into line or point data.

Convert a TIN to lines/points

If the layer contains several objects in addition to the TIN (points, lines, texts, etc.), you must first isolate the objects that constitute the TIN:

Select the objects that constitute the TIN (these are generally surfaces).

Click the Duplicate button in the Geometry ribbon.

Choose New and enter a name for this layer.

Once the TIN is isolated from the rest of the data, it must be converted into lines:

Select the objects of the duplicated layer (therefore the TIN).

Click the Decompose button in the Geometry ribbon. The objects making up the TIN are transformed into polygons.

Select the newly created polygons.

Click the Unfill button in the Geometry ribbon. The polygons become closed lines.

It is then possible to integrate these lines to create the terrain. At this stage we recommend using the Points and Vertex function without adding a contour curve.
